Fantasy football- Do I drop a depth player to make room for an insurance player?
fantasy sports asked:
I currently have Joseph addai as my number one rb. Behind him I have Marion Barber, Ahman Green and Thomas Jones. After watching in fear of serious injury last week when addai went down on the opening play I feel like I would be kicking myself in the butt if i knew that I had another opportunity to pick up Colts backup RB Kenton Keith. I have been trying all week to make a two for one deal involving green and jones to free up a roster spot for Keith but havent been able to. I dont want to have to set one of these players free with the chance that someone could sign them and end up reaping the benefits but at the same time I would hate to have someone pick up keith on the waiver wire after an addai injury. I dont want to list my whole roster on here so lets just say that dropping any of my other players is not an option this week. Do I drop Jones now in light of his injury status and the pennington injury? Or do I wait another week, hope addai doesnt go down & try to make a swap?

dont drop anyone. if addai gets injured you have very good backups to take his place.

I would not let go of any of your running backs, the position is the life blood of fantasy football, I only have four on my roster and am sweating it out already. Instead consider first dropping a defense or Kicker, if you have two on your roster, just pick somebody up when your bye week comes around, this will buy you at least 3 weeks to see which players just had a bad week one and which players (I.E. Thomas Jones) are actually injured for the long haul. If you can’t do that, go wide receiver, or even tight end. The depth at these positions is much stronger than running back, Just don’t short yourself running backs, somebody is going to get injured this season, it happens every year and the position is the key to a successful fantasy season.

Your back ups are solid. Don’t sweat it much. If you feel you need an insurance guy consider a low points position such as TE to drop your back up, then pick up a guy for the bye week.
