Three people were injured in the wreck at Il Vicino restaurant, at the corner of Central & Maryland.
Sergio Lopez told police he was blinded by the sun and lost control of his Ford Expedition.
Two of the injured were treated and released. A third is hospitalized in fair condition.
Lopez also had a minor injury. He was ticketed for driving without a license, no proof of insurance and making an improper turn.
Immigration Customs Enforcement also issued a federal detainment order on Lopez. He is to be held at the St. Louis County Justice Center upon his release from the hospital.

Good. I’m glad to see that some towns and agencies are interested in enforcing the existing laws of this nation. Thank God he didn’t kill anyone, but those hurt will now have to deal with financial hardships as this criminal had no insurance.

Everyone does it. My sister in laws mother was directly from Italy and drove for many years without a driver’s license as she could not even read English !

its not just mexicans, its all types of races, even americans with suspended licence, or no insurance, or drunks, but it is unfair to be hit by someone who has no LEGAL right to be here, but I a mexican, and do have insurance, it can happen to any race.

They should sell the bastard to the makers of a snuff movie to get the money to compensate those who were injured.
This will get me a violation but I am tired of those who are innocent of wrong doing getting left holding th financial bag when the criminals get off Scott free. Do not tell me a ticket for not having a license, insurance and making an improper turn is punishment.

when i was in court disputing a ticket last year, i saw a mexican guy do the SAME thing!!! the guy was in court and the judge dropped his tickets to minor offenses so he wouldnt get jail time….its disgusting!!! i think they should do their time in america and then be deported from there!

He should be treated JUST LIKE I WOULD BE TREATED UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCE.
Unlicensed, uninsured, and reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle.
_I_ would be thrown under the jail, _he_ should get the same treatment but in _Mexico_ not here.
His own country (which probably has gov’t agencies to help illegals get into the U.S.) should have to bear the burden of his 15 to 30 year prison sentence.

He should be deported. At least he stuck around after the incident! An illegal side swiped my car and tried to run, I got the licence plate # and the police found him 2 hours later. He was an illegal and nothing happend to him, bastard.

It’s our government’s fault. Our politicians are doing nothing about it like they have for years. We need to keep bothering them about this issue. It is a very serious issue. Soon the insurance companies will be all over it. It could be us that pay because how long do you think insurance companies will be paying? I don’t want to pay for what an illegal did. It’s a big problem in Massachusetts with illegals driving.

Mixico is a funny place, I know of a married couple who share their home, with the lover of the couples wife who lives upstairs and her husband lives down stairs.
So, there are no hard laws I feel, if this is how a couple married in the roman catholic church and then now being Buddist etc and sharing each other etc, in such modern times, the laws are easy and the guy should be lucky to serve a less term and take care next time how he drives etc,. when he should catch a cheap lawyer at the near by court and get his immigration status sorted out, they are hopping around and can fix this for as little as nothing.

Well, the Dems want to give them money, shelter, and everything else, and the Republicans don’t want to upset Mexico – or make the less economically viable segment of our population do actual work.
This kind of thing happens FREQUENTLY. Our city parks are filled with illegal, peaceful families enjoying our tax dollar benefits, our public transit system (where available) is crowded, and all we can do about it is be drug addicts and consume things. We have no political option that will solve the problem, and nobody seems to want to do anything, except weirdos sitting in a chair with a gun, and me… I learned conversational spanish, since we’re obviously going to just sit here and let it happen.
We can’t even pass consumption tax instead of income tax – at least they would have to pay tax on anything the bought here. (fair tax).
They are making babies. We aren’t. They do work. We don’t. They make more out of less – we consume. This isn’t difficult – we aren’t the U.S.A. of the 1950’s. We don’t make anything, serve anyone, or do a whole lot besides consume and pretend we’re still entitled. Our economy is based on habit. Welcome to the 1980’s with this question. Upset yet? Just watch Big Brother or Biggest Loser or something and we’ll forget, until a celebrity or politician thinks of something for us to stand for.

Well the only down side to his being deported is he won’t be around to help pay for the damage he caused.
Since he didn’t have insurance, he should have to pay out of pocket and if he dissappears back into Mexico then the victims won’t see a dime.
They should jail him, pending his payment of damages. If he has no money, then his vehicle should be sold and the proceeds used to cover the damages. Then he should be deported.

OK, now he broke the law to get here, he broke the law to drive the car so let’s deport him and his family if there is one back to Mexico and allow the injured and restaurant to sue the Mexican Government for their bills.

The same thing I would think about ANYONE driving in those conditions. That’s a big problem here in Maine, not too many immigrants here mind you, hardly any. But a LOT of american born drunken guys driving without a license and suspended licenses, etc. causing death to innocent people for their stupid choices.
By the way, sounds like an accident to me (except the wrong turn) Now, does the sun not blind people who carry license and insurance?

-Do you know this is the first time in American History that us, Americans, are massively “emigrating” to Canada??? (And not to mention Americans staying illegal in Europe and Asia after arriving with a tourist visa..!).
-Do you know that Canadian authorities have to highly increased their border patrol because of ILLEGAL AMERICANS crossing it?
-Do you know that in Canada crime is almost “nonexistent” but since Americans moved in the rate has increased AND ALWAYS BECAUSE AMERICANS WERE INVOLVED in a crime?
Our governement is now getting back what have been dishing out for so long…
The only thing we need now is Canada building a huge wall to keep us, Americans, out-of-their-country!

look at yourselves instead of fixing your eyes on someone else’s tragedies because you-do-not-know why that person came to us illegally as our fellow Americans are doing to our Canadian neighbor.
