I live in MI and am wondering if there’s motorcycle insurance where you can just pay the months that you ride?

I have progressive right now and heard geico offered that but geico does not offer motorcycle insurance in MI.

I’m sure there is. But even though you aren’t riding what about theft, loss, or damage?
State Farm and others adjust their rates based on the factor of weather and the likability to ride based on your region. If you don’t maintain a policy then over the long run this could end up costing you more

My policy through Allstate runs for 6 months.
I always renew the same policy so I can ride on any day.
At renewal time there is the option to switch policies to a “storage” policy. Cheap, and maintains continuous coverage.
The alternative is to leave it uninsured for the other 6 months, but that means a NEW policy. On a new policy they don’t carry over any discounts (safe driver, etc.)

Usually the policies are rated based on the climate, and they assume it won’t be used much in the winter. All the motorcycle policies I have had have required annual premiums for that reason. If you have a loan on your bike, you will be required to maintain coverage at all times.
