Shop around. Progressive seems to be pretty good for young riders.
Insurance for men under age 27 is pretty high everywhere, though.

That seems fairly high. I pay $35 a month… and thats for FULL coverage. I also have a fairly clean driving history. What’s your driving record like? Lots of speeding tickets? Accidents? What kind of insurance are you looking for? It doesn’t seem to me like you’re offering enough information. Your riders license will help, it would probably help you more if you learned how to spell it properly though. Unless you took the MSF course, most insurance agencies will not give you any kind of deduction for having that “M.” Are you in school? If you can prove you’re a full time student, most insurance companies will give you a little bit of a break as well.
What type of bike are you trying to insure, like the others said, that’ll play a big part in price as well.

I have progressive and mine is only like $300 for the entire year and I have a low deductable and the most coverage you can get in every area, had I skipped on the low deductable and limited coverage it was going to be like $180.
I’m 25 so I hear that make sit go down a little. I didn’t even ahve a license when I first got my insurance either which you would think would drive up the price. I hear sport bikes are way worse than cruisers, I have an 800 cruiser. Most companies will also cut your rates if you take a safety class or motorcycle class..

Wooh!!! $215 a MONTH!!!! You are probably young and want to insure a crotch rocket :)
My insurance is with Progressive – have been with them for the past 3+ years. And I pay $55/month with a $1000 deductable… but I am 31 and ride a 865cc Bonneville :)
Last year when I totalled my V Star in an accident they gave me $6000 and I bought the bike for $5500 :) Well I did have it all customised and that’s why they gave me the extra $1000…
If you can – try insuring it on your parent’s name – many of my younger friends do that do save $$

I’m a 25 y.o. male with a home made 1650cc bike and one HOV violation. My insurance was way too much so I shopped around a lot. Everyone recommended Progressive but I found them to be pretty pricey ($140/month). The best deal I found was with Farmer’s ($108/month).
As far as being a student. goes, it’s not enough to just be a student for a discount. You need to be a student in good standing. The MSF course should lower your rates, as well as other things like Lo Jack. When you find the cheapest insurer, ask about any special discounts. They’ll have a list of them they will run through for you. Surprisingly, getting married and turning 25 didn’t help me at all.
